On Wednesday 14 September, the Government of the Czech Republic approved a proposal for the appointment of 8 new members of the Research, Development and Innovation Council (RVVI). Prof. Jiří Homola from the Institute of Photonics and Electronics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, who is an important scientific personality especially in the field of optical biosensor research, was also appointed as a member. Other researchers from the Czech Academy of Sciences, Masaryk University and the private sector will also sit in the Research, Development and Innovation Council.
According to Helena Langšádlová, Minister for Science, Research and Innovation and President of the RVVI, the new composition of the RVVI combines research experience from abroad, a higher representation of women and the representation of a wider spectrum of scientific fields. "I believe that the new composition of the Council will bring an impulse to improve the environment for research and development in the Czech Republic with an emphasis on the transfer of knowledge and technology into practice and the effectiveness of science and research funding," said the minister and chairperson of the RVVI at this event.
