Cvrček polní (Gryllus campestris) je velmi dobře známý druh hmyzu. Málokdo ho však doopravdy viděl, lidé zpravidla slyší pouze jeho nezaměnitelný zvuk – stridulaci. Česká společnost entomologická se letos rozhodla jej vyhlásit hmyzem roku 2022. Vedla ji k tomu nejen veřejná známost cvrčka a jeho zajímavý životní styl, ale i pozoruhodná expanze druhu v ČR v posledních letech. Zveme proto veřejnost k našemu projektu občanské vědy – mapování cvrčka polního. Veřejnost může svá pozorování posílat do databáze prostřednictvím mobilní aplikace iNaturalist.

The Field Cricket (Gryllus campestris) is a very well-known insect species. However, few people have ever observed it in the field – they usually just hear its typical voice, known as a stridulation. The Czech Entomological Society voted the Field Cricket the Czech Insect of the Year 2022. The reason is not only that it is a famous species with an interesting lifestyle, but also its rapid expansion in the Czech Republic during recent years. We therefore invite the public to take part in our citizen-science project to reveal the cricket’s recent distribution. People can add their data to our database using the iNaturalist mobile app.
