Is published in the Chemical Engineering Journal (IF 10.652).
The article was published in the cooperation of UJEP and IIC Řež in the field of nanomaterials development. The photocatalytic properties of TiO2 are the subject of research at IIC Řež, while FES UJEP has long been engaged in research into the properties of nanocrystalline forms of CeO2. The result of joint research is a composite material that combines the photocatalytic capabilities of TiO2 and cerium dioxide capabilities to effectively decompose toxic organophosphorus compounds, including nerve paralytic chemical warfare agents. Employees of the Faculty of Science, UJEP, also play a significant role in the research. Such materials are also of interest to military researchers involved in research (see K. Mazanec from the Military Research Institute). LRI NanoEnviCz has been cooperating with the Military Research Institute in Brno for a long time. Unfortunately, most of the research results belong to secret information and cannot be freely published. However, it is known that the so-called reactive sorbents based on TiO2 and CeO2 developed at IIC Řež and FES UJEP performed very well in comparison with decontamination agents used in NATO armies, as in most indicators they always (alternately) took first to second place.
