The treatment of chronic diabetic wounds is demanding, expensive and often does not lead to wound closure. There was an effort to develop new functionalized dressings that would promote chronic wounds healing by releasing suitable bioactive compounds. The study was aimed to prepare nanofibrious dressing with incorporated/attached platelet lysate and specific growth factors. The developed dressings released bioactive compound gradually for 1-2 weeks. Their effect was proved in experiments with various skin cells. Nanofibrous dressing with platelet lysate also stimulated healing wounds of diabetic rats. This approach in diabetic wounds healing seems to be perspective for further clinical study.
Biography
Elena Filova, PhD received her PhD from 2nd Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Prague in the field of biology and pathobiology of the cell. Her research is focused on tissue engineering of vessels, bone and skin, drug delivery systems, micro-/nano-structured surfaces for controlled cell differentiation, ferroelectric and diamond-like carbon coatings for improved osseointegration of bone implants, 3D-printed metallic bone scaffolds, reinforced collagen gels for cardiovascular patches, endothelialization of vascular prostheses, stem cells differentiation, wound healing using functionalized dressings.
