Researcher at the Department of Art of the 19th-21st Centuries

Hana Buddeus studied art history and French at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague (MA) and art theory and history at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague (Ph.D.). She has been working at the IAH CAS since 2016.She is member of the Photography Research Centre founded by Petra Trnková in 2018. From 2016 to 2020, she took part in the five-year Sudek Project focusing on Josef Sudek and his photographs of artworks (WEB). She edited Sudek and Scuplture (2020) and Instant Presence: Representing Art in Photography (ed. with Vojtěch Lahoda and Katarína Mašterová, 2017). In 2017, her dissertation was published under the title Zobrazení bez reprodukce? Fotografie a performance v českém umění 70. let 20. století [Representation without Reproduction? Photography and Performance in 1970s Czech Art]. She has been member of the curatorial team of the Fotograf Gallery in Prague since 2020. In the past, she led the Galerie AMU in Prague (2013–2015) and co-curated several editions of the Fotograf Festival.
