Streamers and surface flashover discharges on insulators in alternative gases to SF6
The project aim is a proven technology used to create computational models for the design of environmentally friendly medium voltage (MV) equipment or its components in alternative gases to SF6, specifically in fluoronitrile C3F7CN + CO2 + O2, and in compressed air. A streamer discharge model in given gases will be created, predicting the discharge dynamics in volume and on the surfaces of insulators and will quantify the volume and surface charges. The model will be linked to the 3D MV equipment model to determine the dielectric strength of gases in the MV equipment even in the presence of solid insulators, the breakdown voltage and to propose design modifications.
