CERGE-EI Experts Will Help Define Public Policy

The newly appointed Czech Government has reached out to members' of CERGE-EI faculty for assistance in defining future public policies.
Štěpán Jurajda Appointed to Serve as Deputy Minister for Science, Research and Innovation of the Czech Republic
Minister for Science, Research and Innovation Helena Langšádlová appointed Prof. Štěpán Jurajda her deputy on 17 January 2022. "I very much appreciate Štěpán Jurajda joining my team. He is an accomplished scientist and an experienced member of the Government Council for Research, Development and Innovation. I look forward to our co-operation," said the Minister.
Štěpán Jurajda is a Mellon Endowment Professor with tenure at CERGE-EI and between 2009-2013 served as its director. He received his PhD at the University of Pittsburgh and did a postdoc at Princeton University. In addition to his membership in the Government Council for Research, Development and Innovation (RVVI) and chairing its Commission for Evaluation of Research Organizations and Programs (KHV), he is also a member of the Academic Assembly of the Czech Academy of Sciences, the Scientific Council of Charles University, the Scientific Council of Masaryk University, the Grant Agency of the Czech Republic, and of the CERGE-EI Foundation Board.
Daniel Münich Joins the Advisory Council of Czech Prime Minister
We congratulate Daniel Münich who has joined the newly established Czech Prime Minister's Advisory Council. Prime Minister Petr Fiala introduced the team to the public last Friday. Among its members are leading economists, physicians, and legislators. Daniel Münich will contribute to debates on public policy in the fields of labor economics and economics of education and schooling, in which he has tremendous expertise.
Daniel Münich has served as the executive director of academic think-tank IDEA at CERGE-EI since 2012. He has been a member of the National Council for Budgetary Forecasts. He served as an advisor to the Ministers of Education, Youth and Sport, and the Minister of Finance of the Czech Republic, as an external advisor of the Minister of Finance of the Czech Republic and supervising the National Strategy for Economic Growth. Daniel was a member of an expert team preparing reforms of the Czech tertiary education system. He was a member of the National Economic Board of the Czech Government, a chair of the governmental Advisory Committee for Social and Human Sciences, and a member of the Advisory Committee for Evaluation of Research and Development of the Board for Research and Development of the Czech Government.
