Department of Physical Properties of Rocks
Group number:
370
Group head:
Matěj Petružálek
Workplace:
Puškinovo náměstí Activity of the Department is oriented to study of the physical-mechanical properties of rocks, their response to mechanical loading, rightfulness of rock fracturing, design and improve experimental investigation. Rocks are studied under various load conditions (uniaxial and triaxial loading) and during various time regimes. The results, namely of rheological properties, are important for assessment of underground working stability. Close attention has been given to research into rocks from potential locality areas of the Bohemian massif for deep-mined radioactive and toxic waste deposits and otherwise lower crustal and upper mantle rocks.
