Postdoctoral position at the Astronomical Institute of the CAS (Ondřejov, Czech Republic)

 

The Astronomical Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences invites applications for a postdoctoral position in frame of the project “Unveiling the principles of solar magneto-convection”. The successful applicant is expected to contribute to observational analyses of convection, its manifestation in the solar photosphere, and its relation to the magnetic field.

The successful applicant will join the Solar department of the Astronomical Institute of the CAS, which resides in Ondřejov (Central Bohemia, about 30 km from Prague). The project involves a close collaboration with the Leibniz Institute for Solar Physics (KIS) in Freiburg as it is a bilateral project betwee the Czech Science Foundation and the German Research Foundation (DFG).

The position is supported by a salary, which is based on the domestic levels (cca 1650 EUR/month before taxes) and includes a health insurance. The applicant must hold a PhD degree. Applications can be submitted before finishing PhD, in which case a statement about the planned date of the defense should be included. The appointment is initially for one year; an extension until 30.6. 2026 is expected upon satisfactory scientific performance.
