The project aims to advance research in plasmonics, functional coatings and onco-hematological diseases with the goal of developing a new generation of optical biosensors that enable simultaneous and sensitive detection of microRNA and protein biomarkers of myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML). This goal will be achieved by the development of new multi-functional plasmonic nanostructures that support surface plasmons in VIS/NIR and UV spectral regions, and functionalization methods using UV-triggered chemical reactions, and their combination for site-specific receptor immobilization in plasmonic hotspot regions. The biosensor technology to be developed in this project will provide a new tool for the research of onco-hematological diseases and open up new opportunities for monitoring MDS/AML patients.

IPE carries out fundamental and applied research in the scientific fields of photonics, optoelectronics and electronics. In these fields, IPE generates new knowledge and develops new technologies.
