The 7th Venice International School on Lasers in Materials Science (SLIMS) was held from 3 to 7 July 2022 in its usual location (San Servolo in Venice, Italy). This year, four HiLASIANS participated: Nadezhda Bulgakova, Oleksandr Gatsa, Martin Zukerstein and Ghassan Aber.
The event was an opportunity for young scientists to attend lectures and learn from scientific leaders in the field laser-matter interactions and applications in laser processing. The HiLASE Centre was represented among fifteen speakers from all over the world by Prof. Nadezhda Bulgakova, Head of the Department of Scientific Applications of Lasers and leader of the Laser-matter interaction team. Participants of the school also presented their research project in the form of a brief talk and a conference poster.
Each year, SLIMS also includes the Roger Kelly Award, a competition for the best poster and presentation in two categories: the Young Researcher (1st and 2nd year of PhD.) and the Rising Star (3rd year of PhD. and post-doc).
