Abstract: The project is devoted to the research of oxide layers on TiNb alloys. The aim of the project is to obtain a comprehensive image of the behaviour of oxide layers on the given alloy with respect to mechanical, chemical and physical properties. As TiNb is at present considered as an appropriate material for biomedical applications, the study of oxide layers from a viewpoint of its biological properties will contribute to progress in this field.. Another benefit of the use of the TiNb alloy system is the study of basic issues of adhesion a growth of cells on a metal surface. The composition and the process of production of the alloy and also the method deposition of the oxide layers are determined. Also the characterization of the chemical composition of the oxide layers, wettability, roughness, tribological properties, and also mechanical tests, cavity resistance and biocompatibility tests and assessment of other properties, will be dealt with in this project. We believe that on the basis of such a characterization it will be able to present a concept of optimum methods of surface treatment for particular especially bio-applications.
