Dr. Jiri Cervenka is a Science Secretary of FZU and a group leader of the research group of Nanoscale Materials and Systems in the Department of Thin Films and Nanostructures. Research in his group focuses on the synthesis of new nanomaterials, characterization of their fundamental physical properties, and development of powerful new device structures and systems for applications in energy storage, electronics, robotics, and biomedicine. His current research activities include:

  • 2D materials (graphene) and low-dimensional semiconductors (nanosilicon)
  • Solid-state physics and physics of surfaces and interfaces
  • Energy storage, batteries and supercapacitors
  • Electronic sensors
