Michal Kamrádek won the Otto Wichterle Prize
Michal Kamrádek from the Fiber Lasers and Nonlinear Optics research team was ranked among twenty-four outstanding young scientific talents and won the Otto Wichterle Prize, a prestigious award from the Czech Academy of Sciences.

From April 24th to 27th, the SPIE Optics + Optoelectronics 2023 Symposium took place at Prague. Scientists from our Institute chaired a total of 4 conferences, and we also organized a specialized workshop on optical fibers, including a lab tour.

Sixty years ago, the first lasers in Czechoslovakia were lit up, and the first university course in laser physics was launched. Let us recall at least a part of the history of Czechoslovak lasers through the memories of Jan Blabla and Viktor Trkal, who assembled the first laser amplifier already in the autumn of 1962.
