Abstract:
Unimolecular reactions of the organic radicals and molecules in the gas phase will be studied by means of experiment and theory. Development of a novel time-resolved experiment is proposed to study nanosecond kinetics of the dissociation of the transient neutral species formed by femtosecond electron transfer in high-energy collisions of ions with atoms or molecules using the neutralization-reionization mass spectrometry in combination with ab initio, density functional theory and RRKM calculations. The products of small radical addition to selected organic molecules will be studied in the frame of this project using the proposed novel experimental technique to determine their physicochemical properties. The relative collisional ionization cross-sections - one of the key aspects of the neutralization-reionization mass spectrometry - will be addressed by the experiment and theory as well.
