V poslední době jsou lesní požáry častější a zasahují větší plochy nejen v horkém a suchém Středozemí. Pro řešení budoucích problémů je v České republice nutné zavést aktivní požární management a soubor preventivních opatření. Článek naznačuje možnosti, jak zacházet s ohněm jako nástrojem ochrany přírody. Neměli bychom s ohněm bojovat, měli bychom koexistovat.

Wildfires have recently become increasingly frequent, impacting larger areas in the hot and dry Mediterranean and elsewhere. Active fire management and prevention must be introduced in the Czech Republic to deal with future problems. This article suggests some ways of treating fire as a tool for nature conservation. We should not fight fire — we should coexist with it.
