The Week of the Czech Academy of Sciences 2023

06. 11. 2023

The third annual Week of the Czech Academy of Sciences took place from 6–12 November 2023, opening the doors of research institutions in 22 locations across the Czech Republic. Visitors had the chance to take a peek inside cutting-edge laboratories and ask researchers about what their day-to-day work looks like. The programme always includes open houses, lectures, workshops, exhibitions, and public debates, and the participation of most of the institutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences. Twenty-four events were held in English. As every year, admission to all events is free, but in certain cases, reservations are required.

“The Week of the Czech Academy of Sciences is a showcase of the best, most current, and newest research that is going on in the Czech Republic, presented in exciting forms to the public, and I’m certain everyone will be able to find something of interest in the diverse programme – be it experts or high school students,” says Eva Zažímalová, President of the CAS.

In Prague, visitors can come visit the headquarters of the Academy on Národní Street, which will offer a variety of lectures, pop-up exhibitions, and discussions. Across Prague and the whole country, several CAS institutes will hold open houses for those interested in what goes on inside the research institutes and labs.

A list of the entire week-long programme is available on the website of the Week of the Czech Academy of Sciences.

English events can be found here.
