short abstract:

"Hot electron" induced reactions enable an application of noble metal nanoparticles in different fields ranging from catalysis to cancer therapy. Using spectroscopic techniques, the mechanisms and kinetics of molecular reactions triggered on the nanoparticle surface are elucidated.
