PhD student and postdoctoral positions in the Dioscuri Centre for Single-Molecule Optics
We are proud to announce the opening of our new research unit, the Dioscuri Centre for Single-Molecule Optics, supported by the Max Planck Society. Launching in July 2024, it is set to be a hub of multidisciplinary research, focusing on developing a unique single-molecule toolbox with applications spanning biochemistry, biophysics, and medicine.
Job description
We seek enthusiastic PhD students and Postdocs with an interest in single-molecule imaging methods. You will engage in projects investigating molecular transport, biomolecular interactions, or analysis of complex biofluids at the single-molecule level. Through the utilization and continuous development of Nanofluidic Scattering Microscopy — a pioneering label-free single-molecule microscopy technique — your contributions will be instrumental in providing insights into the fundamental building blocks of life. As a member of a multidisciplinary scientific team dedicated to tackling diverse challenges in single-molecule microscopy and nanofluidics, you will have the opportunity to tailor your focus based on your background and research interests. Your responsibilities may span the development of the optical setup, nano-fluidic systems, image processing, experimental investigations of biomolecular processes, and/or theoretical studies of light-matter interactions and mass transport at the single-molecule level.
Required profile
- M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Physics, Biophysics, Biotechnology, or related field
- Previous experience in optical microscopy, bioanalytical techniques, micro/nano-fluidics, scientific instrumentation development, data analysis, or computational modeling
- Creativity and analytical thinking
- Sound verbal and written communication skills in English
We offer
- An international, creative, collaborative, and friendly environment within the new research group
- Cutting-edge research topics with high application potential and unique research facilities
- Stimulating supervision, supporting creative freedom
- Training and development opportunities — mentoring program, soft skills courses, language courses, including Czech lessons
- An attractive salary corresponding to the upper standards in Europe
- Flexible working hours and home office mode
