Numerical modeler in plasma physics
Institute of Plasma Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences (IPP CAS) offer a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of cutting-edge scientific project in the field of thermonuclear fusion research – the COMPASS Upgrade tokamak. We are looking for a plasma physicist who will be involved in plasma core transport and equilibrium modelling.
The duration of the position is for 2 years and can be extended further.
Job description:
- Core transport modelling for COMPASS Upgrade
- Contribution to the development and maintenance of the flight simulator for the COMPASS Upgrade
- Participation in scientific activities of the Theory and Modelling Department
Requirements and skills:
- Education: University education in plasma physics, mathematics or computational engineering
- Programming languages: Python, Matlab
- Working knowledge: English
Beneficial is:
- Experience in numerical modelling in equilibrium and core transport in magnetic confinement fusion devices.
- C and/or C++, Fortran
- git, CI/CD, Linux
