Description of the project:

A significant upgrade of the COMPASS tokamak to a unique device presently missing in the European fusion program (and worldwide) is proposed. This device would be a flexible tokamak operating at high magnetic field and high plasma density, able to address many of the currently identified key gaps in the plasma exhaust physics as well as to explore innovative divertor regimes and advanced confinement modes important for the ITER and DEMO tokamaks.

The project is co-financed by EU.
