Kakost český (Geranium bohemicum) lze považovat za jediného zástupce naší flóry, který je téměř bez výjimky vázán na čerstvá lesní spáleniště, především v jehličnatých lesích. Ke klíčení semen je nutné narušení silného osemení a klíčení bývá indukováno působením vysokých teplot při povrchu půdy. Protože požárový cyklus se v jehličnatých lesích pohybuje v řádu stovek let, tvoří tento druh dormantní semena, která jsou životaschopná i po více než 120 letech.

Geranium bohemicum is the only vascular plant in the Czech Republic that is almost exclusively restricted to freshly burnt forests, especially coniferous forests. The seeds of this annual plant need to be exposed to high temperatures at the soil surface to break their mechanical dormancy and induce germination. As the natural fire cycle in coniferous forests is hundreds of years, G. bohemicum has dormant seeds that are still viable after more than 120 years.
