Radomír Pánek elected as new Chair of the General Assembly of EUROfusion

The EUROfusion General Assembly elected Prof. Radomir Panek, director if IPP CAS, as its new Chair for a two-year term from 2024 to 2025.

 

This appointment follows the term of Prof. Ambrogio Fasoli, who will start his role as EUROfusion Programme Manager on January 1, 2024.

 
The General Assembly is the decision-making body of the EUROfusion consortium consisting of representatives of 31 institutes from 29 European countries. The EUROfusion consortium addresses a grant under Horizon Europe that directs and integrates research across Europe into a comprehensive R&D programme to realise fusion energy. EUROfusion consortium brings together more than 4000 researchers, staff and students from its members and affiliated entities; from 2021 to 2025, EUROfusion is supported by €549.4 million from EURATOM with additional matching funding from member states.
 
The role of the Chair of the General Assembly is pivotal in guiding EUROfusion's strategy and collaborative efforts among member states. This leadership is crucial in advancing fusion research and bringing us closer to fusion as a viable and sustainable energy source.
