Alena Bičáková has been a Researcher at the Economics Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences since October 2007. She served as Deputy Director for Graduate Studies of CERGE, Charles University, and the Economics Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences from May 2018 to July 2023. She was also an Assistant Professor at CERGE, Charles University (2007-2016) and thereafter a researcher participating on various research grants. Alena earned her Ph.D. in Economics (2005) from the Johns Hopkins University, USA; an M.A. degree in Economics (2001) from CERGE-EI, New York, USA; an M. Phil. degree in Economics (2000) from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom; master´s degree in Economics (1998) from the Institute of Economic Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University. From November 2005 until September 2007, she worked as a Research Fellow at the Finance and Consumption Program at European University Institute, Florence, Italy. She is a holder of the Eugenio and Patricia Castillo Award (Johns Hopkins University 2003).
