We are looking for a new member of the team:
POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER in the field of Laser-Matter Interaction and Optics (laser synthesis of nanomaterials in air and liquid surroundings and their manipulation in applications for sensors and detectors)

What will you do

The Postdoctoral Researcher will be involved in the development of novel approaches to fabrication of new generation of detectors and chemical biosensors, based on nanomaterials. He/she will perform scientific experiments in the frames of the SenDiSo project (“Sensors and Detectors for Future Information Society” funded by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of Czech Republic, Excellent Research call of the Johannes Amos Comenius Programme) in the direction of designing new nanomaterials with laser light and laser-assisted assembling them into useful structures (microelectrodes, circuits, transistors, etc.) for environmental monitoring (portable sensors for pollution monitoring) and improved medical diagnostics. The SenDiSo project is led by Dr. Jakub Dostalek, Institute of Physics of ASCR and, at the HiLASE Centre, it is led by Professor Nadezhda Bulgakova, the Head of the Department “Scientific Laser Applications”.

Responsibilities

  • Active participation in performing research experiments;
  • Development of collaborations with external research teams;
  • Preparation of scientific publications; delivering oral and written reports/presentations.

What do we expect

          Education:

  • Ph.D. in Physics, Optics, Materials Science or other relevant discipline.

         Qualifications Required:

  • Experience of experimental work with short and ultrashort laser pulses;
  • Ability to design laser optics for ultrashort-pulse laser processing;
  • Experience in laser fabrication of nanomaterials, plasma physics, and physics of laser-matter interaction;
  • Familiar with characterization techniques for analyzing processed samples;
  • Good written and oral communication skills (English);
  • Ability to learn new scientific areas;
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
