My main job is to develop functional surfaces for biosensors and to control the technology of SPR (Surface Plazmon Rezonance) and QCM (Quartz Crystal Microbalance) biochips preparation. I prepare functional polymer layers (brushes) that are used to study the interactions between biomolecules and the biochip surface. Biochips based on polymer brushes play a significant role in biosensors for detection of bacteria or other pathogenes which can be used for example in food safety and security. Apart from working in the laboratory and planning the experiments, the characterization of the surfaces via different analytical methods (SPR, QCM, ellipsometry, IR etc.) and writing laboratory protocols, I keep the Laboratory of biosensors going.
