Michal Bauer Receives Education Ministry Award for Outstanding Scientists
14 December, 2022
Michal Bauer, Associate Professor with tenure at CERGE-EI, received the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports Award for Outstanding Results in Research, Experimental Development and Innovation. Congratulations!
On December 12, 2022, the Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, Vladimír Balaš, and the Deputy of the Higher Education, Science and Research Section, Radka Wildová, presented a series of awards to outstanding scientists, educators and students. Awards have been presented to 18 laureates in five categories.
The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports has been presenting the Award for Outstanding Results in Research, Experimental Development and Innovation since 1991. The award recognizes achievements over the past five years, based on the support provided by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports.
Michal Bauer has been an Associate Professor with Tenure (under US permanent charter) at CERGE-EI and a member of the Executive and Supervisory Committee of CERGE-EI since 2017. He is also affiliated with the Institute of Economic Studies at Charles University, IZA and CEPR.
His research spans behavioural economics, development economics and experimental economics. The unifying motivation is to shed light on “behavioural” mechanisms that may contribute to pressing social issues, including poverty, discrimination and violent inter-group conflicts. To do so, he conducts field experiments in relevant settings, often in disadvantaged communities. His research appeared in number of leading journals, including American Economic Review, Journal of Economic Perspectives, Nature or PNAS.
