Mariola Pytliková Elected Vice-President of the Czech Economic Society

Daniel Němec from Masaryk University has been elected the new President of the Czech Economic Society for the period 2024-2026. Mariola Pytliková from CERGE-EI is the new Vice-President. 

Mariola Pytliková has been an Assistant Professor at CERGE-EI (under U.S. permanent charter) since 2016. She is also a Docent (Associate Professor) at CERGE, Charles University, a Researcher at the Economics Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences. She was previously a Senior Researcher at the VSB Technical University Ostrava, as well as a Senior Researcher at the Danish Institute of Governmental Research (KORA), and an Assistant Professor and Postdoctoral Researcher at Aarhus University. She received her Ph.D. in Economics from ASB, Aarhus University. In the past, she held visiting stays at Princeton University, the University of Illinois at Chicago, University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, and Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona. She has been a research fellow at the Centre for Research and Analysis of Migration (CReAM) at University College London, the Institute for Study of Labour (IZA) in Bonn, the Center for Corporate Performance (CCP) in Copenhagen, and the Central European Labour Studies Institute (CELSI) in Bratislava. She received The Dean’s Award for the best publication, Kateřina Šmídková’s Award for the best female economist, and the Young Economist Award from the Czech Economic Society.

In her research, Mariola Pytliková deals with labour market economics, international migration, ethnic diversity, gender and inequality issues. 

Daniel Němec is an Associate Professor at the Department of Economics, Faculty of Economics and Administration, Masaryk University, where he supervises the Bachelor's degree programme in Economics and the Master's degree programme in Mathematical and Statistical Methods in Economics.

The Czech Economic Society is an association of people working or interested in the area of economics. The main mission of the CES is to enhance the development and general knowledge of economics in the Czech Republic in a way that fully respects and supports plurality of opinions and autonomous evolution of individual schools of economics. The Society is a member of the Council of Scientific Societies of the Czech Republic.
