Ways to the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry

Access using public transport

The Institute can be easily reached by municipal transport.

The tram and bus stops "Petriny", located in front of the Institute, are terminals of the tram lines:

  • 1 (from Hrdlorezy via Metro stations Palmovka, Vltavska, and Hradcanska - from 1st Febrary 2009 temporarily via Palmovka, Vltavska and Malostranska, not from Hradcanska); operates daily from 5 to 24)
  • 2 (from Vokovice via Metro station Dejvicka; operates on working days from 6 to 19:30),
  • 18 (from Nusle via the city centre and Metro stations Prazskeho povstani, Karlovo namesti, Narodni trida, Malostranska, and Hradcanska - from 1st Febrary 2009 temporarily not from Hradcanska; operates daily from 5 to 24)

and of the city bus line

  • 191 (from Metro station Andel; operates daily from 5 to 24, on Sundays from 6 a.m.)
  • 184 (from Metro station Nove Butovice; operates on working days from 5:30 to 20)

The stop is also served by the bus line 179, from the airport to Metro station Nove Butovice (operates daily from 5 to 24); in remaining times of day, night bus line 510 connecting the airport with City is available.


If you travel from abroad by air plane, by train, or by coach

you will probably arrive at one of the points below. From them, you may use municipal transport.The connections are described in detail.

Prague trams and buses operate without conductors. Tickets must be purchased in advance and punched inside the tram or bus (in the bus, you can buy them at a drivers with additional fee 4 Kč) or before passing the gates of the Metro. The most common tickets are:

Kč 18 : a single journey up to 20 min or 5 stations by Metro
Kč 26: a 75-min transfer ticket

Tickets are available at newspaper stands and tobacco shops, at hotel reception desks, in restaurants, at railway stations, at the airport, in slot machines at some stops, etc. The Metro runs from 5 a.m. till midnight. More detailed information are available at Prague Information Service or Prague Public Transit Company.

You may also take a taxi; but, occasionally, you may be requested to pay a very high price. Please, consult Prague's official information pages .


Access by car

When arriving by car, one has to take into account that it is forbidden to stop or park in front of the main entrance of the building. The parking area is in Štolbova street, where also a freight gateis situated, which can be also used as barierrless entrance to the building, if needed (after preliminary agreement or after announcement in the reception).

We suggest using the routes given to avoid traffic jams and losing one's way in the city.
