The „Multi-Organismic Approach to Study Normal and Aberrant Muscle Development, Function and Repair“ (MYORES) Project is the first European Network of Excellence dedicated to the study of normal and aberrant muscle development, function and regeneration. It is taken part in by 37 research teams from 6 European countries and Israel (panel A). The participants research muscle development from myogenic induction to muscle morfogenesis and final differentiation of various muscle fibre types (B). The project`s contributions are sharing information on newly identified genes and factors determining muscle tissue`s characteristics. It was obtained by screening model organisms for muscle genes with subsequent applications to mammals (humans), using technical platforms focused on functional gene analysis and the continually updated information system called MYOBASE.  Another aim of the project is to co-ordinate an effective and continuous information transfer from research projects  to clinical and biotech applications (1 million €uros out of the 12-million budget were set apart for this purpose). Another important objective of MYORES is to organise congresses and workshops. The 2nd MYORES Congress was held in Prague and organised  by the Department of Functional Morphology, AS CR.
