Introduction

The American IREX Agency (International Research & Exchanges Board) collaborated with the ASCR Archives on the creation of first version of these pages (1999) and provided financial assistance in the form of a grant both for a published summary of ASCR Archive record-groups (which came out in the Works from the History of the Academy of Sciences series, series B/13, 1999), and for these web-pages, with funds provided by the U. S. Department of State (Title VIII). None of this organization is responsible for the views expressed. Thanks are also due to Dr. Michael J.
