Výzkumné aktivity se orientují na vyhodnocování metod vzorkování a na studium chování a ekologických požadavků ryb v různých typech vodního prostředí. Mým hlavním výzkumným zájmem je studium přirozené reprodukce ryb v evropských nížinných tocích. Výzkum je zaměřen na pochopení a predikci faktorů prostředí a biotických interakcí, jako jsou kompetice, predace a parazitace na reprodukci ryb. Další výzkumné aktivity se zabývají problematikou tzv. environmentálního stresu na rybí společenstvo a ekologií invazních druhů ryb. Výsledky mnoha studií mají širší aplikaci v rybářském a ochranářském managementu.
