Our research group works with dynamics, functioning and diversity of vegetation at various temporal and spatial scales. Main domains of our research are
- Ecosystem ecology focused on biomass production and nutrients allocation especially in grassland ecosystems. Main methodology approach is field experiments modulating environmental conditions, e.g. nutrients input and precipitation.
- Vegetation science focused on classification and ecology of wetland, grassland and forest vegetation. Main methodology approach is phytosociology in sense of the Zurich-Montpellier school.
- Historical ecology focused on historical human influence on forest. It is an integrated research using sources and approaches of the humanities and sciences.
- Palaeoecology focused on the Holocene and Quaternary development of vegetation. Main approach is pollen analysis of humolite profiles.
Our research is facilitated with a palynological laboratory and a laboratory for plant and soil material analyses.
