The Workgroup of Ecophysiology of Photosynthesis is engaged in a deeper study of common plant physiological process- photosynthesis. Team is focused on estimation of assimilation ability especially of forest tree species grown e.g. under the dynamic light conditions or under the elevated concentration of CO₂. Simultaneously the probability of synergic effects of the other environmental factors and influence of feedback reactions on the regulation of CO₂ assimilation rate are observed- that means the principles of systems ecology are applied. 

Assimilation ability is determined as CO₂ assimilation rate, which is measured by the open gas exchange system LI-6400 (LI-COR, USA). The gas exchange method is combined with chlorophyll fluorescence method. One of the aims is to find the relationship between gas exchange and fluorescence methods, which would help by use of parameters measured by multi-spectral sensors. These parameters have large potential to specify knowledge about CO₂ flux between vegetation and atmosphere.  

Team is in long-term cooperation with Faculty of Science OU in Ostrava, Laboratory of Physiology and Ecology ISBE AS CR in Nové Hrady and Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology MZLU in Brno.
