Department of Optical Fibers Technology
The department deals with fundamental material and technology research of optical fibers. It cooperates with other departments of the Institute particularly in Division of Photonics. Its research activity is focused on:
- doped fibers (Er, Yb, Tm, Eu, nanoparticles)
- microstructure fibers and double-clad fibers
- fiber-optic sensors based on fiber tapers and microresonators
- drawing of non-silica fibers and fibers with special coatings
The research activities are based on systematical developement of MCVD (preform preparation), fiber drawing, fiber tapering, sol-gel methods, DC-magnetron sputtering and preparation of nanoparticles.
