Mgr. et Mgr. Klára Plecitá, Ph.D.

K. Plecitá studied the Faculty of Social Sciences and Faculty of Law of Charles University. She defended her doctorate in the field of Sociology at the Faculty of Social Sciences. At present time she has been working at the Institute of Sociology ASCR. She manages the research department and is a member of the Council of the Institute of Sociology ASCR. She is also a member of the Department Council for the doctoral Study Program of Sociology at the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University and a member of Editorial Board of the Sociologický časopis/Czech Sociological Review. She is engaged in research of political values, attitudes and behaviour (legitimacy of democracy, trust in institutions, party identification, electoral behaviour, non-electoral political activities) and national identity. She managed a number of research projects (ISSP 1998 Religion, ISSP 2000 Environment, ISSP 2001 Social Networks, ISSP 2002 Family and gender roles, ISSP 2003 National Identity). Since 2001 she has been Czech National Coordinator of the international research program European Social Survey, which the European Commission awarded with the Descartes Prize in 2005. She has published scientific papers in such renowned periodicals as the Sociologický časopis/Czech Sociological Review, Communist and Post-communist Studies, Electoral Studies, and Nations and Nationalism.
