Introduction - the Aims:
Biochemical studies are focused on the mode of action of selected biologically active nucleoside and/or nucleotide analogs (antimetabolites) discovered in the Department of nucleic acids chemistry. The aim is to elucidate the molecular basis for antiviral and cytostatic activity of diverse structural modifications of these compounds. Detailed investigation of antimetabolites involves study of their cellular transport mechanisms, intracellular metabolism and interaction with target enzymes.
