LC 06034 - REMOROST - Regulation of plants morphogenesis

(2006-2010, provider - MEYS, coordinator - E.Zažímalová (IEB AS CR) , investigator - I.Kašík)

The goal of the part of the project solved in UFE (Institute of Photonic and Electronics AS CR) is developement and optimalization of  intracellular pH detection sensor for plant cells. The target spatial resolution is 2-5 micrometers and the pH range between 5 and 7. This research is a part of the research of plants morphogenesis regulation.

A tapering and ITO and Alumium sputtering techniques were developed for various types of fibers and  plant cells were succesfully penetrated by prepared fiber tapers. The main result is measurement of extra-cellular pH by a 7-micron fiber taper.

102/09/1763 - Design, preparation and characterization of novel optical microresonators for chemical detection

(2009-2011, provider GA CR, investigator V.Matějec, co-investigator V.Kubeček (CTU FJFI) )

The goal of the project is theoretical and experimental research of disc-resonators with various cross-sections, sensitive to changes of refractive index, for opto-chemical detection.

In the first year, methods of preparation were found for spherical microresonators with 200-um diameter (flame) and disc-microresonators (CO2-laser).

102/08/1719 - Special microstructure optical fibers with enhanced sensitivity for chemical and biochemical detection

(2008-2010, provider GA CR, investigator J.Kaňka (dpt.210))

The goal of the project is developement of microstructure fibers modified by long-period gratings (LPS), tapering and detection layers for sensor applications. Microstructure fibers and their tapering will be provided by the department.

A technology was developed for drawing, tapering and cleaving of novelty "steering-wheel" MSF.

NLO materials and nanomaterials projects

102/10/2139 - Preparation and properties of silica-based optical glass containing rare-earth-elements and chromium-doped nanoparticles

(2010-2013, provider GA CR, investigator I.Kašík)

The project is focused to preparation methods of novel thulium-doped materials with enhanced emission, based on nano-crystalline ZnxTiyOz spinels and chromium-doped Al2O3 nano-particles embedded in silica glass matrix.

FILA -Compact whole-fiber high-power lasers with passive Q-switching

(2010-2012, provider MEYS - KONTAKT, investigator P.Peterka (dpt.210), co-investigator LPMC Nice)

The goal of the project is a demonstration of diode-pumped whole-fiber PQS laser at 1020-1150 nm wavelegth band, using experiences and technologies available at LPMC and IPE. The departments part is a developement of technology for preparation of non-circular fibers with Yb3+-GeO2-P2O5-SiO2 and Yb3+-Al2O3-GeO2-P2O5-SiO2 core-compositions.

Scan4surf - Metrology for continual monitoring of laser-structuring systems

(2010-2012, provider MEYS - MNT-ERA, investigator Safibra, co-investigator P.Peterka (dpt. 210) )

The main goal of the project is developement and integration of novel measuring devices for a laser-structuring system, allowing continuous monitoring of surface micro- and macrostructures of machined materials during the fabrication process. The departments part is a developement of technology for preparation of optical fibers with core-composition: Yb3+-GeO2-P2O5-SiO2 (high P2O5 content) for emission at shorter wavelengths and core-composition: Yb3+-Al2O3-GeO2-P2O5-SiO2 (low P2O5 content) for emission at longer wavelengths.

Thulium doped high-power fiber lasers with emission at 800 nm region

(2010-2012, provider MEYS - PICS, investigator P.Peterka (dpt.210), co-investigator LPMC Nice)

The main goal of the project is demonstration of fiber laser with emission in 800 nm region based on silica optical fibers. The departments part is characterization of thulium luminescence lifetime in prepared preforms and fibers.

MOFIC - Microstructured Optical Fibre Components For Optical Communications

(2008-2010, provider MEYS - EUREKA, investigator SQS Vláknová optika, co-investigator J.Kaňka (dpt.210) )

The goal of the project is achieving an inovation in SQS Vláknová optika ("SQS Fiber optics") in teh field of non-linear optics and sensor applications, using designed and realized fiber-optic components. The departments part is developement of suitable method for preparation and tapering of suitable microstructure silica fiber.

Method were developed for drawing and tapering of a novel microstructure "steering-wheel" optical fiber. A method of preparation, based on fiber tapering, was developed for fiber-optic V-probes and some progress was made in tapering of non-silicate fibers.
