1979 - 1983 Mendel University of Agriculture and Forestry in Brno, specialization fishery, Graduate Thesis: „Influence of aflatoxins contaminated food on fry carp“.

Professional career:

  • 1985 - 1989 Ph.D. stay in the Institute od Vertebrate Zoology, Department of Ichthyology, Ph.D. Thesis: „Histology, histochemistry and ultrastructure of fish epidermis“
  • 1989 – present research scientist, member of Department of Ichthyology, Institute of Vertebrate Biology (IVB) AS CR, from 2006 the head of this Department.

    Profession experience:

    ichthyology – ecology, reproduction of fish, histochemistry and karyology

    Presently focusing on study of silver crucian carp (Carassius auratus gibelio) polyploid complex and its dynamics on the territory of the Czech Republic. Other fields of interest: reproduction of fishes, histology of their gonads and integument and conservation of endangered fish species.
