1965–1970 Mendel university of agriculture and forestry in Brno, Department of fisheries and hydrobiology, specialization fisheries and hydrobiology, graduate thesis: „Influence of electric current in chub, Leuciscus cephalus (Linnaeus, 1758) under aspect of electrofishing“.

Professional career:

  • 1970-1986 Institute of vertebrate zoology CSAV in Brno, Ph.D. (1978), thesis: „Production biology and bionomy of the main fish species fry in the Rokytná Stream“;
  • 1986-1993 Institute of systematic and ecological biology CSAV in Brno (the succession institute);
  • 1993-1998 Institute of landscape ecology AS CR in Brno (the succession institute);
  • 1998-present Institute of vertebrate biology AS CR, v.v.i. in Brno, Ichtyological department (the succession institute).
