Core Facility

The Quantitative PCR Core Facility was founded in 2009 at the Institute of Biotechnology AS CR, v.v.i., it is a part of Laboratory of Gene Expression, which is under supervision of Prof. Mikael Kubista. The Quantitative PCR Core Facility provides high-throughput gene and transcript analysis using real-time quantitative PCR and especially a unique high-throughput instrument Biomark from Fludigm. The PCR core facility has also the following major equipment available: 7 thermocyclers: Realplex Mastercycler from Eppendorf, CFX96 and CFX384 from Bio-Rad, StepOne Real-Time PCR System and 7500 Fast Real-Time PCR System from Applied Biosystems, LightCycler480 II from Roche and a rotor based Rotor Gene 6000 from Qiagen. Samples can be processed and assay plates assembled utilizing a robotic liquid handling workstation Eppendorf R epMotion T 5070 Workstation. The robot is capable of loading 96-well and 384-well plates in a timely manner with great precision. For a quality and quantity controls of samples, NanoDrop ND-1000 Spectrophotometer, Experion Automated Electrophoresis Station from Bio-Rad and 2100 Bioanalyzer from Agilent Technologies are available.

The real-time PCR Core Facility, headed by Vlasta Korenkova, Ph.D., offers a full complement of real-time PCR services not only for internal users but also for researches from other academic institutions. Our services include:

  • One-on-one consulting on experimental design
  • Automated RNA/DNA isolation using QIAcube(Qiagen) or Quick Gene-Mini 80 (Fujifilm)
  • Training in probe/primer design
  • Quantification of your RNA/DNA samples: Nanodrop quantification
  • Determining quality of RNA/DNA samples: Experion Bioanalyzer (Bio-Rad) or 2100 Bioanalyzer (Agilent Technologies)
  • Reverse transcription
  • Preamplification
  • Setting up your real-time PCR experiments.
  • Setting up Biomark real-time PCR experiment. Six different arrays are available, see Biomark page.
  • High resolution melt
  • Data analysis
  • Training to use the method and equipment: TATAA qPCR courses
