Research Interests

  • conservation genetics,
  • non-invasive genetic sampling,
  • population genetics and molecular ecology.

PhD thesis is aimed at genetic variability in populations of chamois in Slovakia and the genetic structure, i.e. gene flow between the populations. This is studied using several types of genetic markers – nuclear microsatellites, the major histocompatibility complex gene (MHC II DRB) and mitochondrial marker (D-loop). The study deals also with hybridization between two subspecies of chamois – autochthonous Tatra chamois and introduced Alpine chamois – which occur in Slovakia.
