There a number of bodies and councils which advise and govern the university: the Rector, the Academic Senate and the Research Board. Other university bodies are the Internal Evaluation Board, the Board of Trustees and the Bursar.
The rector's advisory bodies are: the Rector´s Board, the History Board, Editorial Board, Grant Board and International Advisory Board.
To deal with issues of ethics, the Ethics Commission and the Research Ethics Commission were established.
is the executive head of the University. He or she is appointed to the post by the President, after having been nominated by the Academic Senate.
The rector is accountable for the performance of his or her office. The rector presents the following to the Academic Senate: drafts of internal regulations, budgets, fundamental policy documents (constituting long-term plans), evaluations of compliance with plans (annual reports), and other documents and decisions concerning the University.
is the university’s top self-governing representative academic body. Under existing legislation, it must have at least 11 members, of whom at least one-third – but not more than one-half – must be students. Members of the Academic Senate are elected in a direct secret ballot by their peers in the academic community.
The Academic Senate nominates a candidate for Rector to the President of the Republic, approves draft internal regulations, draft budgets, long-term plans, annual reports and other proposals submitted by the Rector. The Senate expresses its position on the rector’s nomination of members of the University Research Board and of members of the Rector’s Board (Vice-Rectors).
of the University is a self-governing academic body overseeing research and other creative activities performed by the University as a public higher education institution. The Research Board is chaired by the rector and he or she appoints remaining members who are subject to approval by the Academic Senate.
is a self-governing academic body, whose activities support and develop quality assurance and internal evaluation of the educational and scientific, research, development, innovative, artistic, or other creative activities (“creative activities”), and related activities of the University.
oversees that activities of the institution serve the public interest, that legislation and regulations are met and that the university’s property and assets are diligently managed. The remit of the Administrative Council primarily involves issuing approval for measures related to the management of property and assets.
is the body of a public higher education institution responsible for the university’s finances and internal administration, speaking on behalf of the institution within the scope defined by the relevant provision issued by the rector. The bursar is appointed by the rector and is accountable to the rector in the administration of his or her office.
