The former head of the Department of Dielectrics, Dr Jan Petzelt, was awarded a prestigious award of the scientific community. He was recognized for his lifelong contribution to understanding ferroelectric materials.
1st place at the international conference Nanocon 2014
Lukáš Ondič received the Best Presentation Award for his contribution titled Two-dimensional Photonic Crystals for Enhancing Light Extraction Efficiency from Luminescent Layers to The 2nd International Education Forum on Environment and Energy Science.
President of the Czech Academy of Sciences prof. J. Drahoš awarded the Ernst Mach Honorary Medal for Merit in Physical Sciences to prof. Alexander Lichtenstein on October 8th, 2015. The nomination of prof. Lichtenstein was prepared by the Institute of Physics CAS.
At the end of the last year, postgraduate student Miroslav Myška from the Department of Particle Theory and Phenomenology was awarded the Prize of the Rector of the Czech Technical University in Prague for an outstanding PhD thesis of the II. Degree.
Poster entitled "Computing interfacial properties of polypyrrole on diamond nanoparticles for photovoltaic applications" was announced as one of the five best student posters of the conference.
This year's awards went to the Department of Optical Materials, Department of Thin Films and Nanostructures and the Department of Astroparticles Physics.
Among other successes, he developed a program Superflip, which has been widely adopted by the crystallographic community and is one of the most commonly used programs in the field today.
This very sound breakthrough project of Dr Kusova indicates extensive application possibilities, e.g. in manufacturing tiny light sources integrated onto silicon chips, or in biological and medical uses. It is already a second significant award for Kateřina, who was also one of three laureates of the 8th year of Czech edition of the competition L’Oréal for women in science 2014.
