Who we are
SDSA is a working group which belongs to the Solar department of the Astronomical Institute, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. It is dealing with physical conditions in the solar atmosphere, mainly in active regions and in sunspots.
What do we do
Solar quiet and active regions at various atmospheric levels are studied in order to understand interactions between plasma motions and magnetic field. Medium (of about 2") and high (better than 0.2") spatial-resolution observations mostly in the optical region are used for this purpose. Global and large-scale dynamic properties of the Sun are studied, and horizontal transport velocities of plasma in the solar atmosphere are analyzed.
